Why We Feel Horrible Everyday
Apr 14, 2024Read time: 3.0 minutes
We've all been there—you struggle to get through every day and feel like it's only getting harder and harder.
Since when did living an everyday life become so hard? The constant negative news is not helping either.
You've watched countless motivational YouTube videos. How come you can't get stuff done?
If you were asked what you needed to do, you could list at least five items you need to complete by the end of the week.
And when the end of the week arrives, you've finished only a few of them.
You start again next week and put together a new list of what you need to do... Except you need to make up for the "unfortunate" last week.
So, you enter week 2 with more items on your list.
Surprise, surprise—you don't get anywhere near where you should be. Why would you not feel horrible?
I've been there and certainly felt that, just like you.
I always thought I needed to do more to be healthier, wealthier, and more fulfilled. But that's wrong—it's completely wrong.
What you need to do is to simplify your goals.
Let's understand this better.
Ruthlessly Simplify
Every person you look up to who you think accomplished something you believe you can't have followed a straightforward idea to get where they are today.
They ruthlessly simplified their goals.
They got where they are because they realized the few things they wanted out of life, in every phase of their lives... and they worked day and night to become the best at those things.
Notice how I said, "the few things they wanted out of life." You don't need to have only a few goals for your whole life to be successful. You need to have only a few goals at a time.
You need to simplify your goals so that you are only working towards a few goals right now.
The secret to becoming healthier, wealthier, and more fulfilled is simply doing less, not more.
When I learned this, I was able to accomplish things I would have never otherwise dreamed of.
I focused on 2-3 goals that mattered most to me at any given time and did not worry about everything else.
The result? I'm healthier than I've ever been. I'm wealthier than I've ever been. I'm more fulfilled with the work I do every day.
You will stop feeling horrible every day when you start simplifying your life and only care about a few things you want to achieve.
Takeaway
So, for today, here's how you can apply this to yourself:
Don't have any goals yet? Start by creating a 90-day plan in which you set only three goals for yourself:
- One goal for your health
- One goal for your wealth
- One goal for your relationships
So, choose carefully what you will focus on for the next 90 days. Then, figure out the exact steps you need to take to work on each goal. Revisit all other goals in the next 90-day cycle.
For example, if your goal for your health is to "hit the gym 3 days a week", your steps to accomplish this could be:
- Figure out what days and times work best for my schedule to fit this in.
- Find a beginner weight training workout routine.
- Find/Purchase the gym clothes I need.
Already have goals? For the next 90 days, simplify your goals to just three. Figure out which three goals are the most important to you right now and cannot be delayed.
Then, figure out the exact steps you need to take to accomplish your goals and set deadlines for those steps. The more thought you put into this planning, the more likely you will accomplish your goals by the end of the next 90 days.
And that's all for today.
See you next Sunday.
